"Jim" James
Anthony Metz
January 24, 1966 – September 28, 2015
Metz, James Anthony "Jim", age 49, of Tipp City passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 with his family by his side.
Jim was born on January 24, 1966 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Jacqueline and Kenneth "Allen" Metz. He graduated from Twin Valley South High School in 1984 and attended Miami University. He spent most of his career in the field of mechanical engineering, with his most recent position as an Applications Engineer at Production Control Units, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio. His attention to detail and dedication to accuracy and efficiency was admired by many. This trait extended to his home life where no task was too small to be completed, and to be completed well.
Known for his quick wit, and penchant for mischief, Jim could always crack the perfect joke, make anyone smile, and pull off a master prank. This left a few shaking their heads, but for those who knew him, this only increased their esteem for his commitment to merriment and trouble.
Jim loved many things including, but not limited to the outdoors, coaching his son in soccer, solving difficult problems, politics and history, taking his dogs for long walks, cool evenings by his fire pit, the Ohio State Buckeyes, cooking the perfect salmon, playing with his grandkids, weekends shopping, and the perfect cup of black coffee - though not necessarily in that order.
He enjoyed a variety of hobbies, namely cooking. Jim loved to care for his loved ones by cooking up one of his signature, gourmet meals and cleaning up all dishes afterward. His dedication to crafting the perfect meal was enjoyed and appreciated by many - specifically his chocolate chip cookies, which remain unmatched to this day.
Jim fiercely loved his family and loved ones and would stop at nothing to ensure their well-being and happiness - even if it meant sacrificing his own. He answered every phone call cheerfully and always made time for everyone. Jim actively chose to live his life happily, with a quiet dignity only few can achieve. He will be remembered as an irreplaceable and extraordinary man.
Jim is survived by his wife Teresa "Tere" {Jenkins} Metz; children Laura (Matt Thurston) Metz, Lakekand, FL James W. Metz, Tipp City, OH, Frank "Jay" Rojo, Tucson, AZ and Aimee (Billy) Johnson; West Alexandria, OH, Andrea Rojo, Yuma, AZ, grandchildren Adisen and Remmy Johnson; parents Jacqueline and Allen Metz, Tipp City, OH, brothers Monte (Lisa) Metz, Nashville, TN and Terry (Rae) Metz, New Carlisle, OH ; sisters Laura (John) Dickhaus Mason, OH and Tammy Petry, Florida. Also, many special nieces and nephews; and treasured friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 2, 2015 at 7:00pm at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371. Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. A private service for family will be held Saturday, October 3, at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens in Centerville, Ohio.
