Cleckner, Jerry Lee "Derb" 79 of Tipp City, OH passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015. Born November 13, 1935 in Tipp City to the late Thomas and Helen {DeWeese} Cleckner. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen {Shroyer} Cleckner, daughter, Holly and her husband Todd Meyer, Powell, OH, son, Matt and his wife Amanda Cleckner, Tipp City, sister, Nancy and her husband Gus Hagen, Tipp City, grandchildren, Hayley and Carson Meyer and J.T. and Laney Cleckner, along with niece, Kelly (Don) Rose, Las Vegas, NV and nephew, Kurt (Kim) Hagen, Tipp City, OH. Jerry was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School class of 1953, making a name for himself as a 135 pound quarterback for the Red Devils. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jerry retired from American Airlines, was a retired plant manager for Plate-Rite, Inc., and was an associate with Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home for 44 years. He loved pheasant hunting in Iowa; duck hunting at Lake St. Mary's and was an accomplished trap shooter. He enjoyed trips on and off the road with his friend, Mose who affectionately referred to Jerry as the "Happy Mallard". He loved his Gold Wing riding and threw caution to the wind on his motor cross bike. Jerry had a special love for his family and friends and his many canine friends as well. Jerry was always quick to share a limerick or funny story. He was a huge fan of Duke Basketball and Coach K, a long suffering Cleveland Browns fan and was the last connoisseur of Blatz beer. Funeral service will be held at Tipp City United Methodist Church, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Jerry to the Alzheimer's Association Miami Valley Chapter or Hospice of Miami County.
