IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacqueline M.
Polley
September 18, 1931 – October 5, 2022
Jackie was born to Catherine (Grove) and Edward Helmer on September 18, 1931 in Tipp City, Ohio. She passed on the morning of October 5, 2022 at Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio, at the age of 91. She died peacefully in the presence of loved ones.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, step father Pete Kiser, husband Bill Polley, brother Bill Helmer and his wife Mary Lou, son- in- law Bill Avey. Also preceded in death by a host of aunts and uncles of whom she had the best memories and funniest stories.
Jackie retired from Captor Corporation, but did many things throughout her working life. In earlier times she was co-owner and operator of the Ice House and J&R market, in Troy. She started those with her then husband, Red Taylor. They had two daughters, Nikki Avey Ross (Art) of Troy and Terry Taylor Kostoff (Bob) of West Milton. Although their marriage ran aground, she and her second husband, Bill Polley, remained friends with Red until his passing. She was married to Bill for 35 years and one of the many highlights of that union was the birth of a son, Joe Polley (Debbie Robinson) of Miamisburg. All her children survive as do her grandchildren, Christina Avey Lawrence (Todd) of Troy, Megan Polley of Centerville and Rachel Kostoff of Oakwood. Jackie also has four great grandchildren, Chelsea Miller (Mike) of Piqua, Gia Morton of Centerville, Ella Rae Bond and Brooks Kostoff of Oakwood. Also surviving are sister, Becky Honeyman of Troy, and best bud Barb Chronabery of Florida.
Although Jackie was afflicted with Alzheimer's in her last years and sometimes had trouble remembering us, we will always remember who she was. Kind and compassionate, tough when needed, and wickedly funny, all rolled into one. Jackie loved her family and was a great wife, Mom and friend. She always had a place at her table if you were a friend to her or her children, relative, neighbor or someone that just needed someplace to be. She constantly amazed her children with her work ethic and her capabilities, accomplishing almost everything she set out to do. She also had the greenest of thumbs, so if you want to honor her, plant some flowers and spread some beauty into the world.
To the nurses, aides and activities people of Koester and Hospice that touched Jackie with kind, loving hands, and for propping up the family when need be, we will be forever thankful for you. Many of you went above and beyond (you all know who you are) and you have our love and respect. Quite frankly, we couldn't have gotten through this without you. Thank you also to the support staff of Hospice and Koester, and a special heartfelt thank you to Julie Green for your loving care and support.
Services will be held at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home in Tipp City on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Visitation starts at 10:30 AM with a memorial service at Noon. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Tipp City, Ohio.
Jackie had a soft spot for animals, and if desired, donations may be made to His Hands Extended Sanctuary in Jackie's memory. Donation envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
Rest in peace, Mom. We will love you and hold you in our hearts forever.
