Inge Anstadt , 89, a beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully at her home in Oakwood on the evening of September 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Gorki, Russia on May 2, 1935, Inge spent her youth in Germany navigating challenging times during and after WWII. At 19, she journeyed to the United States aboard the SS United States with her parents and brother eventually making Philadelphia her home.
Inge found her calling at the University of Pennsylvania's veterinary college, where she met her soulmate, Dr. George L. Anstadt. Together, they built a life rooted in love, compassion and shared purpose. Inge became an integral part of the community, supporting George's veterinary practice and sharing their commitment to the welfare of animals. Her devotion to her husband included their shared mission to develop the Anstadt Heart cup. Family and friends were the cornerstone of her life.
Inge was a gracious host, known for her warmth and hospitality. Her cooking brought people together, and she was well known for making the best sandwiches for those who visited. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother and hosting family gatherings. She often shared stories of her childhood in Germany and lessons learned in the hard times surrounding WWII. Inge was a radiant spirit whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Inge is preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, as well as her mother Erna and father Peter Schiff. Inge is survived by her children, Sven & Mark, and her grandchildren, Hunter, Tristan, Madison & Olivia, as well as brother Peter and nephews Cole & Jacob who will carry forward her spirit of compassion. Her many devoted caregivers became like family in Inge's last few years. She will be missed dearly by all.
Visitation will be held at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371 on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM. Kristen Zimmann officiating. A celebration of her life will follow at The Hotel Gallery at 109 E. Main Street, Tipp City starting at 3:00 PM. All friends and family are encouraged to spend the evening with us to enjoy catered food, refreshments, and live music. Online condolences may be expressed at www.fringsandbayliff.com.
