IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Mary
Meyer
November 16, 1937 – January 17, 2026
Helen Mary Meyer (née Demeter; later Hartman), age 88, of Tipp City, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026, surrounded by her family during her final weeks.
She was born on November 16, 1937 in Richmond, IN, to Andrew and Mary Demeter. In 1939, her father changed the family name to Hartman, and in 1943, they moved to Dayton. Helen cherished her small-town roots, graduating in 1956 from Wayne School in a close-knit class of just 17 students.
Helen married Leroy Meyer in 1957, and together they shared 68 years of marriage. They built a life on a 178-acre farm in Elizabeth Township, where they lovingly raised their four sons. Along with multiple outside jobs, Helen managed the daily activities of the farm, even taking her turn on the tractor when necessary. She was the heart of their home—a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—who enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing for her family, as well as supporting their activities including farm clubs, showing animals, sports, cheer, gymnastics, theatre, and dancing. She loved to watch multiple generations go sledding on the farm's big hill, and bacon roasts with extended family were a beloved tradition. In her limited free time, Helen especially enjoyed reading.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Mary and her siblings Irene Arnold, Rose Borba, and Nick Hartman.
Helen is survived by her husband, Leroy; her sister, Betty Collinsworth; her sons, Tim Meyer (Carol), Terry Meyer (Julie), Tom Meyer (Kelly), and Ted Meyer (Ann); her grandchildren, Marie Maurer (Jacob), Jason Meyer (Amanda Cecil), Brandon Meyer (Ali), Jamison Meyer (Jarred Stamper), Rebekah Flora (Jerry), Samson Meyer, Sarah Miller (Jordan), Rachel Petry (Eric), Susan Beecroft (Nick), and Katherine Meyer; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
