Thompson, Harold E. 87 of Troy, OH; formerly of Tipp City passed away at home on Thursday, December 19, 2013. He was born on January 19, 1926 in Union Township, Miami County, OH to the late John and Louise {Heckert} Thompson. Also preceding him in death are his first wife; Joanne {Walker} Thompson in 1979 and second wife; Catherine {Hildebrand} Thompson in 2009. He is survived by his daughters; Launa (Robert) Peavley, Cincinnati, OH, Sandra (Brad) Lane, Raleigh, NC, Marla (Larry) Leasure, Troy, OH, step-daughters; Phyllis (Donald) Lawson, Tipp City and Judy (Edwin) Flora, St. Mary's, OH as well as sister; Helen Keller, Greenville, OH and brother; John Lee Thompson, Columbus, NE, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, was the plant operator at Hill Top Sand & Gravel, Fairborn, OH, a member of the Masonic Lodge #577 in West Milton, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, American Legion Post #586, Tipp City and faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Tipp City. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 14 W. Walnut St., Tipp City, OH, with Rev. Dr. David Moreland officiating, burial to follow in Wheelock Cemetery, Nashville, OH. Visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371 and 30 minutes prior to the service on Monday at the church. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Harold to the Zion Church Memorial Fund.
