Mumford, Gene D. age 82 of Tipp City passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017. Born January 13, 1935 in Bethel Township, Miami County, Ohio to Harold and Imo {Minnick} Mumford. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Mumford. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Roxa {Tinning} Mumford, daughter, Sherri and her husband Jeff Locke, Frankfort, KY, son, Brian and his wife Jamie Mumford, Bethel Township, OH. Also surviving are sisters, Phyllis Althouse, Columbus, OH, Sandra Senseman, Bethel Township, Linda Mumford, Bethel Township, Carol (Fred) Cook, Tipp City, Beverly Mumford, Bethel Township and sister in-law Linda Mumford, Tipp City and grandchildren; Brandon Mumford, Shay Locke, Julia and Jenna Mumford. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army, was a member of the VFW and Eagles lodge in Tipp City and the Am Vets and Elks lodge in Troy. He enjoyed fishing, reading the newspaper and working crossword puzzles. He was a nature lover, enjoyed travelling and listening to jazz and the blues. Above all else he loved his wife, children and grandchildren and spending time with them. Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 20, 2017 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, OH 45371; Reverend Dawn Montgomery officiating. Visitation will be held from Noon until time of service at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in loving memory of Gene to the Wounded Warriors or any Veteran's group.
