Anderson, Fredrik, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died Saturday June 10.
Fredrik was born in West Union, Iowa in 1933 to Edwin and Florence (Berg) Anderson. He was preceded by his parents and his wife, Evelyn Anderson. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Scot and Marcia Anderson, Laura Jett Anderson, Jon and Carolyn Lowry, and Jennifer Lowry and Pete Sutcliffe, as well as his grandchildren Bret, Mandy, Cheyenne, Oakes, Hastings, Rebekah, Evan, Kate, Jack, and Bryn and also many friends.
He received his bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. He continued his education at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the Federal Executive Institute (FEI).
Fredrik's professional career encompassed many aspects of aviation. He concluded a successful Civil Service career in 1988, retiring from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH, as Assistant Director of the Aeronautical Equipment Program Office. Fredrik attained his Pilot's license in 1960 then, continuing in that endeavor, became a Certified Flight and Ground Instructor for Private, Commercial, and Instrument Aircraft and Helicopters. For many years he was an instructor with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Aero Club, and later at MacAir Aero Club at Green County Airport, Xenia, OH. In 2010, his aviation accomplishments were recognized by the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, when he received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for promoting safe aircraft operations for over 50 years as a pilot and instructor. He was a member and active participant in a number of aviation related organizations to include Civil Air Patrol, Dayton Hangar Quiet Birdmen and the Guild of Ancient Lineboys. He was also engaged in his community as a member of the Huber Heights and Montgomery County Boards of Education, and as an alumnus of the Leadership Dayton Program.
An analytical and thoughtful person, Fredrik led a full life and enjoyed a wide variety of activities with his family and friends. Not only was he a pilot, but he also sailed, built extensive model trains and electronics, and traveled extensively. An avid reader, Fredrik always enjoyed books on history, flight, science and innovation and was constantly looking for new and improved technology and gadgets.
A Celebration of Life and Reception will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on July 8, 2017 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St, Tipp City, OH 45371.
