Eugene G. Sabel

Sabel, Eugene G. “Gene” age 84 of Troy, Ohio passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026. He was born November 29, 1941 in Plymouth, Wisconsin to Elmer and Myrtle {Zemke} Sabel. Gene is preceded in death by his parents and wife Mary E. Sabel. He is survived by his son Gary (Jeff Mellott) Sabel, step-sons Michael Folk and Steve Folk, sister Bev and three grandchildren.

Gene enjoyed golfing, going out for breakfast and lunch with friends, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. He treasured the time spent with family and friends, creating lasting memories through good conversation, shared meals, and his love of the game.Gene loved starting each morning with a trip to the Speedway up the street. Over time, he became good friends with the wonderful employees, who affectionately nicknamed him "The Muffin Man." His daily visits, warm smile, and familiar routine became a bright spot in their mornings just as much as they were in his. It's a simple memory that perfectly captures the kind, friendly person Gene was and the lasting connections he made wherever he went.
