A letter from Elizabeth's great-granddaughter...

Today we remember and honor an incredible woman whose life touched so many hearts. My great grandma was truly one of a kind. She was the kind of person who left a mark on everyone she met, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her knew just how special she was. She was strong, loving, honest, and full of life in a way that is hard to put into words. She was an amazing woman whose strength carried her through many seasons of life. No matter what challenges came her way, she faced them with courage and determination. Her strength wasn’t just in the way she handled life’s difficulties, but also in the way she stood firm in what she believed in. She was never afraid to speak her mind, and she always told the truth, even when it wasn’t the easiest thing to say. She was honest and real in a world that often isn’t, and that authenticity made people respect and admire her even more.

My great grandma had a personality that could fill an entire room. She was full of life, laughter, and warmth. Her presence alone could bring comfort and joy to those around her. One of the things people will always remember most about her was her smile. It was that kind of smile that could brighten up any room and lift anyone’s spirits. When she smiled, you felt it – you felt the warmth, the kindness, and the love she carried in her heart. She was one of the most caring people you could ever meet. Her heart was always open to the people she loved. She gave so much of herself to her family and friends, always making sure everyone felt supported, valued, and loved. The love she gave was truly unmatched. It was strong, unconditional, and endless. She made it clear every single day how much her family meant to her, and she poured her heart into those relationships. Anyone who was lucky enough to know her understands how special she was. She had a way of making people feel welcome, important, and cared for. Whether it was through her words, her laughter, or simply her presence, she made people feel like they belonged. That is a rare gift, and it is something that will never be forgotten.

Faith was a huge part of her life. She was a devoted Christian for many, many years and lived her life guided by her beliefs. Her faith gave her strength, hope, and purpose, and she carried that faith with her in everything she did. She showed love, compassion, forgiveness, and kindness to others in a way that reflected the values she believed in so deeply. Her relationship with God was something that shaped her life and the way she treated the people around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, honesty, and faith that will live on through the many lives she touched. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we also feel grateful – grateful for every memory, every moment, and every piece of wisdom she shared with us. The lessons she taught us, the love she gave, and the memories we hold will stay with us forever. Even though she is no longer here with us physically, her spirit, her love, and everything she stood for will continue to live on in our hearts and in the way we live our lives.

And while it hurts to say goodbye for now, we know in our hearts that this is not truly a goodbye. For those who shared the same faith as her and even those who did not, this is simply a “see you later”. One day we will meet again, and until that day comes, we will carry her love, her strength, and her beautiful memory with us always.

With all my love,

Sydney
