Powell, Earl Leon, 78 of Troy passed away March 24, 2011 at the Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio. Born April 14, 1932 to Jake and Daisy (Lamb) Powell in Stanford, Indiana. He moved to Ohio in his late teens and took up residence in Tipp City. He married Roberta "Bobbie" O'Diam in 1951. They bought a small farm together in the early 1960's and ran it until Bobbie passed away in 1978. He remarried in 1980 to Pauline Lile and moved to Dayton until Pauline passed away in 2005. He then moved to Troy and resided there until the present. Earl was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt for Morel mushrooms. He was also a fine gardener and his home was always the one "with all the flowers". He loved Old Fashioned Country and Bluegrass Music and Square Dancing. Earl was retired from Springhill Nurseries where he worked for 55 years. He was preceded in death by brothers; Frank "Red" Powell, and Forest Powell, sisters Mary Myers, Nadine Martin, Rose Hall and Leona Camp, also an infant daughter Melody in 1954. Earl is survived by his daughter Cris and her husband Roger Kister of Troy, grandson Shannon Kister of Indianapolis, son Bob Powell and his wife Lily of Three Rivers CA, their daughter Alison and grandson Ethan of Visalia, CA, and in-laws Loraine Powell and Robert Camp, also numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday April 2, 2011 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371 Chaplain Ed Ellis officiating. Burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Visitation 5 to 8 pm Friday April 1, 2011 at the funeral home. Casual dress is encouraged.
