Obituary

Gillette, Dorothy (Dottie) Bertha, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 09, 2016, in Tipp City, Ohio. Born in Nowata County, Oklahoma on December 28, 1926, she was the 3rd of 6 children, to Edwin and Bertha (Dietrich) Brunkhorst. She attended St Paul Lutheran Elementary, Coffeyville Jr High, Lenapah High School, Field Kindley High School and graduated her junior year. She attended Coffeyville Jr College in Coffeyville, Kansas, and graduated from Pittsburg State University Teacher's College in Pittsburg, Kansas. She was a member of Phi Tau, Alpha Mu Gamma, Kappa Delta Pi and of the Eta Eta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. After graduation she was invited to join Mensa International. When Dottie was 16, she worked at the drug store soda fountain in Coffeyville, Kansas where she met Richard Gillette. They married on February 9, 1947. Shortly after, they moved to Dayton, Ohio where she worked for Bell Telephone, Reich Rebuilding Co., and Schriber Sheet Metal. She taught school for Tipp City, Bethel and Troy and loved teaching. After moving to Grapevine, Texas in 1977, she worked for Stewart Smith Southwest and Hull & Company Insurance in management. Dottie loved to work the newspaper crosswords, sewing and making baby quilts. Dottie was an active church member of St Paul's Lutheran in Coffeyville, Kansas where she was baptized, confirmed and married, Concordia Lutheran in Oakwood, Ohio, a Charter Member of Mt Calvary Lutheran in Englewood, Ohio, Zion Lutheran in Tipp City, Ohio, Peace Lutheran in Hurst, Texas and Crown of Life Lutheran in Colleyville, Texas. Dottie is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by Richard, Tipp City, her husband and love of her life, married just one month shy of 69 years, daughter Debra Gillette, Tipp City, son David (Becky) Gillette, Ft Worth, daughter Deanna Gillette, Tipp City, grandchildren Jay Shipe, Clayton Shipe (fiancAC. Cindy Hamilton), David Gillette Jr, Roxann (Aaron) Glick, Wesley (Kristen) Gillette, Matthew Gillette, great grandchildren Jaycie Shipe, Leah Carrothers, Kristin, David III, and Justin Gillette, Cassandra and Alec Slaby, Caden and Kayli Glick, and great, great grandchild Carson Kinney. She was loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service for Dottie will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City, Ohio on February 6th at 10:00 AM. Final resting is arranged at Bluebonnet Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371. T
