Barse, Donald L. Sr., 79 of Conover, OH, formerly of New Carlisle, OH passed away at his home on Thursday, May 7, 2015. Born on August 4, 1935 in Stowe, VT to the late Leon H. and Dorothea A. {Hunsicker} Barse. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lee {Faunce} Barse in 2013 and daughter, Kimberlyn S. Barse. He is survived by his children; Donald L (Janet) Barse Jr., Fairborn, OH, Deborah L. Potter, Indianapolis, IN, Nancy Koogler, Fairborn, OH, Denise (David) Hathaway, Marion, IN, Susan Barse, Indianapolis, IN and Cheryl (Scott) Koogler, Conover, OH along with 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, expecting 3 more and 1 great great grandchild. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Cuban Crisis, Bay of Pigs and was a Casualty Assistance Officer for the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was transferred three times in as many years going from Clinton County AFB to the Veterans Hospital in Dayton, OH and then he was the Chief Personnel Officer with the 910 Tactical Unit in Youngstown, OH. His other duty stations included Texas, Illinois, Alaska and several stations in Indiana and Ohio. Most of his military service was served at different bases within the state of Ohio. His final duty station was with AFIT at Wright Patterson AFB until his retirement with the rank of Captain after more than 32 years of service between his active, reserve and civil service with the United States Air Force. After retirement he worked at the Nutter Center at Wright State University for fun until two years ago. He attended the Nazarene Church, Medway, OH, loved traveling by car, gospel music, photography and especially enjoyed taking his family to dinner.
