Constance Jean Canizo

Constance Jean Canizo, affectionately known as Connie, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at Mercy Health-Springfield Regional Hospital. Born on November 16, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, Connie’s life was a testament to love, family, and enduring kindness.

Connie was the cherished daughter of the late George A. and Florence F. (Snodgrass) Lacy. She was also the beloved sister of Robert Clevenger Lacy, Kenneth L. Detrick, and Betty Lou Detrick, all of whom preceded her in death. Their memories remain deeply woven into the fabric of her life.

Connie's journey was marked by profound devotion to her family. She shared a loving union with her husband of 56 years, Moses Canizo Sr., with whom she built a life filled with warmth and joy. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family centered around their children: Tracy L. Canizo-Freels and her husband Duane, Janel M. Ryan and her husband Jake, and Moses K. Canizo Jr. and his wife Malinda.

Her legacy extends through her treasured grandchildren—Nani, Makana, Leilani, Chelsea, Jon, Kandyce, Xavier, Aralynn, Kara, Leighton, Makayla, Dillon, Katalaya, Destany Colwell, Haley, Jake, Jack, Lily, Brayden, Sydney, Dylan, and Mason. Each one of them carries forward a piece of Connie’s boundless spirit. This love and legacy bloom further in her great-grandchildren: Katelin, Patience, Evelynn, Grayson, Ikaika, Titus, SamiJo-Jewell, Dartagnan, and Jackson, who brought immense joy and light to Connie’s later years.

Her heart also included her beloved dogs, Sassy and Marley, whose companionship spanned two decades and was a testament to her nurturing nature and capacity for unconditional love.

She graduated from Wayne High School with high Honors, class of 1966. She pursued her degree in Concentrated Bible at Word of Faith Worship Institution in 1984. She devoted her entire life to the Lord through workmanship, engaging in acts of kindness and service. She read her Bible daily and couldn't wait to get to Heaven. She was the CEO of a prayer chain she created that accumulated thousands in need of prayer over the years. She played the piano and guitar and loved her angel figurines. She enjoyed family games with her children and quiet nights of Sakura and rummy with her husband. Her house was full of laughter from her grandchildren on the weekends. She donated to multiple organizations, including; St. Judes, Wounded Warrior Project, Alzheimer's Association and Feed the Hungry where she sponsored and saved the life of a little girl. Connie had an enormous love for everyone, a nurturing soul, and the ability to ease the heart of anyone. Her memory will forever be cherished, and she will be deeply loved and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A visitation to honor Connie’s memory will be held on May 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home located at 327 West Main Street, Tipp City, Ohio. This will be followed by a funeral service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the same location. Finally, a burial will take place at Ellis Cemetery on Cassella Montezuma Road in Celina, Ohio, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Connie’s life was a blessing to all who knew her. She embodied grace and resilience, leaving behind a rich tapestry of love and cherished memories.
