Carolyn Horton, née Decker, passed away in March 2026, in Colorado, at the age of 79. Born on December 2, 1946, in Troy, Ohio, Carolyn lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a profound commitment to her community and family.
Carolyn was a proud graduate of the Tippecanoe High School Class of 1964, where her journey of lifelong service began. She devoted much of her professional life to nursing, a vocation she embraced with compassion and skill. Carolyn’s career spanned several states; she was employed at Kettering Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, and Baptist Hospital in Arizona before settling in Grand Junction, Colorado. There, she served as a school nurse, providing care and comfort to many children until her retirement. Her dedication in these roles demonstrated her unwavering commitment to health and well-being.
Beyond her professional achievements, Carolyn was an active member of the Seventh Adventist Church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and providing her strength and solace.
An avid equestrian and passionate tennis player, Carolyn found joy and fulfillment in the outdoors and sports, a testament to her spirited nature and love for life. These hobbies not only enriched her own life but also brought her closer to communities that shared her interests.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charlie Decker and Vera Neff Decker; her cherished daughter, Melissa; and her brothers, Keith and Kermit Decker. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dana Horton, and her sister, Connie Decker White, who remember her with love and admiration.
Her life was a beacon of kindness, resilience, and dedication to those she loved and served. Carolyn Horton’s legacy will endure through her family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her gentle spirit and strength. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
