Carol J. Maxwell, 76, of Tipp City, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at her residence surrounded with family and friends. She was the co-founder of Maxwell Lightning Protection Co., Dayton and Maxwell Lightning Protection of Florida Co. She retired from the Florida company in 1994 and the Dayton company in 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Craig Maxwell; her parents Carl and Margaret Huff and her sister Roberta Johnson. She is survived by Guy C Maxwell and his wife, Kathie of Orlando, FL; Gail D. Simon of Albuquerque, NM; Lynn J. Busse and her husband, Ronald of Troy, OH; Karen L. Lange and her husband, Alan of Piqua and Wayne S. Maxwell and Diana Posey of Vandalia; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog; Mame. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipp City. She was commissioned as a Eucharistic minister with parish outreach to Spring Meade. She was involved in many parish ministries, including playing orchestra bells for the St. John's choir. She also helped with the Clothesline in Tipp City. Her passion for music led her to join the New Horizons Band at UD playing the marimba. She graduated in 1951 from Allegheny High School, Pittsburgh, PA growing up in the North side. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Spring Meade and Hospice for their care and compassion enabling us to assist with honoring our mom's last wishes supporting us to bring her home in her final days. Lastly, the parishioners of St. Johns Church for their loving support. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 753 S. Hyatt St., Tipp City. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Building Fund, 753 S. Hyatt St, Tipp City, OH 45371 or Hospice of Miami County, 550 Summit Avenue, Suite 101, Troy, OH 45373.
