Gossett, Bret Eliot age 48 of Tipp City, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born August 7, 1977, in Dayton, Ohio to Curt and Brenda (Maddox) Gossett. Bret is survived by his wife, Christina “Chris” (Sims) Gossett; two sons, Gavin and Dylan Gossett; his parents, Curt and Brenda (Maddox) Gossett of Tipp City; sister Melanie (Curt) Keels and nieces Ava & Sophia; grandmother Nelva Gossett; mother-in-law Shirley Sims; sister-in-law Amanda Sims-Belton and niece Maja; aunt Karen Sammons; and cousin Emily (John) Fowler and their son Gabriel; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lee Gossett; his maternal grandparents Catherine and Earl Maddox; and his uncle, Dan Sammons.

Bret was a truck driver for almost 30 years for Kenan Advantage Group, formerly Manfredi Motor Transit. Bret was a lifetime member of the Troy Fish and Game and the VFW Post #6557 Auxiliary in Pleasant Hill where he was known as the “steak fry cook”. Bret found great joy in fishing (especially at Lake Erie for walleye and perch), camping with friends and family, and watching or attending Ohio State University football games. Bret was known as the family’s cook, and he took pride in running the smoker and grill. He always cooked enough meat and sides to feed an army that would bring everyone together around the table. Bret will be remembered for his sharp sarcasm, endless supply of movie quotes, and clever one-liners, which brought laughter and light to those who knew him.

A Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM until time of service at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Pastor Linda Ares officiating. Bret will be laid to rest at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.
