Pleiss, Bernard J. "Bernie" Jr., Age 83 of Tipp City, OH died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his residence. Born July 14 1929 on Bastille Day in Omaha, Nebraska to Bernard Sr. and Clara (Sommer) Pleiss. Bernie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University in 1951. Shortly thereafter Bernie & Rita moved to Dayton, Ohio where they began to raise his family. Bernie worked as an engineer at Delco Products for 10 years and at A.O. Smith for 28 years. Bernie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church since 1977. He served as the Financial Secretary of the Knights of Columbus Council 5129 for 20 years; Lifetime Member of the Needy Basket of Miami County and member of the St. John's Over 50 Club. Proceeded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth. Surviving Bernie is his loving wife of 61 years, Rita (Romanowski) Pleiss. His sister Mary Graeve Erhardt. His children; Drs. Michael (Chris) Pleiss of Sunnyvale, CA; Mark (Cecilia) Pleiss of Baltimore, MD; S. Susan Marie Pleiss of Oldenburg, IN; Linda (Richard) Felts of Asheville, NC; Lisa (Kevin) Walker of Findlay, OH; Philip (Karen) Pleiss of Madison, MS; Martin Pleiss of Dayton, OH; and Kristina Pleiss of Knoxville, TN. Grandchildren; Katie & Geoffrey Pleiss; Melanie & Timothy Pleiss; Matthew, Colin, & Abigail Walker; Benjamin & Broc Pleiss; and Bella Troutman. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 753 South Hyatt Street, Tipp City, OH, 45371. Father Marc Sherlock celebrant. Burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Tipp City. Visitation also at St. John's Church, Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
