Mildred “Middy” Housel Smith, 95, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019. She was born January 19, 1924 in Warren, Ohio and resided in West Farmington, Ohio for all but 4 ½ years of her adult life when she resided in Piqua, Ohio. On November 4, 1945, she married Melvin Smith who preceded her in death on April 26, 2017. Middy was a three-time cancer survivor and worked tirelessly for Relay for Life as long as she was able. She was a member of West Farmington United Methodist Church, an active community volunteer, and a former West Farmington Homecoming Queen and Parade Marshal. Middy is survived by two children, Darlinda “Iddy” (Bill) Andrews and Melvina “Muffet” (Scott) Andrews, four grandchildren, Brent, Kimberly, Hilary, and Abby Andrews; a great grandson, Patton Smith Andrews and a number of nieces and nephews. Her parents, Ertelle and Eunice Housel, her brother, Bob Housel, and sister, Marcella “Teddy” Housel Lawrence, preceded her in death. The family invites you to join them in a celebration of life service at 11:00 am August 26 at The Ark on the South Campus of Ginghamsburg Church, 7685 S Co Rd 25A, Tipp City, OH 45371. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am and at a luncheon following the service.
